You don’t have to look like a housewife

January 21, 2010

I know when the babies come we get into the habit of walking around in our pajamas all day. Snap out of it!
I will give you six months to hang around the house but that’s it. At some point you need to wake up from the abyss and get yourself together.

Now, a lot of moms are getting pretty freaked out about this. As if asking moms to actually clean themselves up is so bizarre. Like it’s a privilege to walk around with no make-up, a flannel shirt and your husband’s sweat pants. No, it’s not something to be proud of.

Most of the moms on this site want to be the best they can be. Yes, that includes trying to look the best that you can. Your appearance is something to take pride in. Just like how your home looks. It is a reflection on you.

Let some moms walk around looking like house frumps. Fine if they insist. But if you are here, if you are a member of this happy housewives club than I know you want more. I know you want to look great, to feel sexy, and to have pride in your appearance.

For sure there are days when we all want to hang around the house in our sweats. I have those days. Plenty of them. You know I am a hermit. But in my pajamas all day, no.

Hello ladies! I just wanted to say that you are wonderful! I have 3 children (ages 6,5, and 6mths) I gave myself that 6mth frumpy phase and am now ready to lose all of the weight, look good, and feel great again! Thanks for all the help, ideas, and support!

  2. My daughter is 7 months old and I have finally managed to shower regularly (cringe, I know, but it helps she now sleeps 6 hours at a time at night). I only have 10 pounds left to lose, though before I got pregnant I would have been happy to be a little more toned. Joining the YMCA next week as they have free babysitting, and my daughter is now old enough where I feel comfortable leaving her for an hour or so. She does great at our church’s nursery, so I think it’s time.

I have just started getting dressed before the postman arrives ( i was getting embaressed at my appearence when i collected parcels) and i am beginning to manage my hair a little better (ir requires A LOT of attention or it turns afro!!) now i just need to start applying a little make-up to look more alert….i tend to jsut forget though, i never was much of a make-up wearer, but running around after my little one is starting to take it’s toll!

So as well as needing to haul out my make-up brushes i need to over-haul my post baby body!! I must admit it has NEVER been in any kind of attractive condition, i tend to enjoy my food :-/ so now for the healthy kick start as i DO NOT want my son following my habits!!

Wish me luck please ladies….there is a lot to loose

    xx

  4. I found that I feel so much better about myself and actually have more energy if I get up just a little earlier that the kids (I know, sometimes that is sooooo hard!) and put myself together. A quick shower and just a bit of make-up (maybe just some lip gloss and mascara somedays) and some clothes other than PJs and sweatpants, can make all the difference in my day. Now, I am ready if someone comes to the door or if I need to run out. I feel more confident and more like taking care of myself in other areas, like diet and exercise.
