Natural Aphrodisiac’s

Enhancing the passion in our lives. Sounds like a great sales pitch right? Well it should, because it works! Millions of dollars are spent each year on drugs that claim to give your sex drive that extra kick that you desire. What they don’t tell you in every advertisement, is that most of those drugs come with side effects including heart problems, addiction, headaches, rashes, and even diarrhea. Yep, that’s a turn on. Thankfully, there are natural alternatives in food and herbs that can increase your sex drive!

Of course the greatest reason you could use to eat chocolate is to improve your sex drive right? Well now you can! Chocolate contains phenylethylamine and serotonin, which are both “feel good” chemicals. They are the ones responsible for producing the euphoric feeling. Researchers at the Neuroscience Institute in San Diego say that, “Chocolate may also contain substances that have the same effect on the brain as marijuana. The substance is a neurotransmitter called anandamide. The amount of anandamide in chocolate is not enough to get a person “high” like marijuana, but it could be enough to contribute to the good feelings that serotonin and phenylethylamine produce.” So does this mean an increase in your sex drive? Not specifically. Of course, it can help make you feel happier, and more open to being close with your husband.

Oysters are well known as a food of love, and for good reason. High in zinc, they are associated in improving sexual potency in men. Also, certain acids in the shellfish (as well as muscles and clams) are known to be effective in releasing testosterone and estrogen, thus increasing a sex drive.

Papaya has compounds that effect the estrogen in your body. Often used as a folk remedy, it can help with menstral problems, milk production, as well as increasing the female libido.

Ginseng! A powerful energy supplement has been known for many years as an aphrodisiac. While it doesn’t have an effect on the hormone levels, it’s believed that the increased sex drive comes from the boost of energy.

Ginko Biloba is a supplement most often used to boost your memory and brain power. However it is recently being used to fight impotency in men. Ginko helps to relax arterial walls, allowing more blood flow into the penis.

Damiana. A natural herb supplement, Damiana helps give a euphoric feeling, much like chocolate can do. Also studied to help widen blood vessels (though not as extreme as Ginko).

Don’t fall into the traps of advertisements that claim to give you back a HUGE sex drive. It’s not natural. Most of the sexual enhancement is all in your mind. It’s about relaxing, about feeling things, and about expressing love. Many other natural aphrodisiacs out there are merely claimed to be sex enhancers because of their shape or resemblance. Avacados are considered as such because when growing they resemble testes, likewise bananas and carrots are phalic. It’s mostly in your mind. Strawberries, while having no hormonal effect on your sex drive, are widely considered to be an aphrodisiac because they are represented as such in the media. Come on girls, tell me that a chocolate dipped strawberry doesn’t get your romantic heart pumping!

Personally, the best combination I’d recommend is Damiana taken with a big glass of water, followed by a piece of chocolate cake and fresh strawberries!
