Decorate Christmas Cookies Like a Pro!

November 29, 2017

Do you want to learn how to decorate Christmas cookies like a pro? A professional Mom that is!

Don’t be concerned with perfection in Christmas baking. This is about memories, smiles, laughter and fun! The last thing you want to do is complain or yell at your children for making a mess or “not doing it right” when it comes to celebrating the fun of such a loving season!

Here are my top three tips on things you Do Not want to do or care about when making Christmas cookies with your family:

1. You do NOT care about perfection! Who cares if the candy canes come out a little too dark? Who cares if there is a bite taken out of the top of a Christmas tree? Who cares if you don’t actually have Christmas cookie cutters?! Use up what you have and make them Christmas cookies!

2. You do NOT care about making a mess. Messes can be cleaned up with soap and water, but tear stained cheeks last long after the crying ends if you stop in the middle of Christmas fun to yell at your child for having too much fun. Set boundaries for them, but know your own. Certainly don’t allow your kids to draw on your walls with a bottle of food coloring, but don’t get angry for a little spilled frosting or flour dust on your clothes.

3. You do NOT want to wait until Christmas morning to eat them! Dive right in. Use up whatever frosting you have. Decorate to your hearts content and dig in! save a small plate for Santa (and of course Daddy) but sit down and eat with your kids. You’re going to make New Years resolutions to lose weight anyways, so what’s a few cookies now really matter?
