Healthy Holiday Drinks

Seeing Red

  • Cranberry-Apple Cider (diabetic friendly)
  • 4 c. cranberry apple drink (ocean spray is delicious)
  • 1-2 packets of sugar substitute (Splenda)
  • ¼ c. frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed, undiluted
  • 8 sticks of cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. cloves
  • ¼ tsp. allspice
  • ¼ c. light rum(if desired)
  • 6 lemon wedges, about 2 large lemons cut in 3rds

Combine, cranberry-apple drink, sugar substitute, and lemonade in large saucepan. Tie 2 cinnamon sticks, cloves, and and allspice in cheesecloth and add to cranberry-apple mixture. Bring to boil; cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 min. Remove mixture from heat and discard spice bag. Stir in the rum. Garnish with lemon wedges and remaining cinnamon sticks, or add some fresh berries for fun!

48 calories per cup. Makes 6 servings.
