Hungarian Thumbprint Cookies

Hungarian Thumbprint CookiesIngredients:

  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 egg white, unbeaten
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped nuts
  • Jam of your own choice


Cream butter; add sugar gradually and cream thoroughly until light and fluffy. Add egg yolk and beat well. Sift in flour and salt; mixing until thoroughly blended. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

Shape into balls, 3/4 inch in diameter. Dip into unbeaten egg whites and roll lightly in chopped nuts.  Press thumb in center of dough, fill with choice of jam.  Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.
