I hate getting up early. It is my absolute worst thing in the world. Well next to flying. I hate that too. But I set the alarm clock for an half hour before the children get up. If it’s a shower day I set it for an hour earlier. You know I only shower every other day, sometimes I push it to every third day. Hey! Shush! A spritz of perfume and you are fine.

If it’s a shower day then I have to blow out my hair which is totally annoying. If I ever get rich and famous that is what I want. A full time hair dresser to move in and blow my hair out. That would be great.

Make-up. I own just a bit of make-up. I fix my hair. I either pull it back in a clip or use hot curlers to make some type of do. Then I use brown shades of eye shadow, mascara, blush and of course lipstick. You can buy your kit of what you need here on this website. I have created three different kits based on whether or not you are blonde, brunette or a red head. (coming soon!).

I usually don’t wear foundation every day but I certainly do put it on when I think I need a ‘full face.’ You know when that is.

I think the best thing you can do for your appearance is to keep your skin nice. Make sure you put on moisturizer. Every night wash your face and slather on the moisturizer.

Also eat healthy. That is another section of this website but eat the real good fats like avocado’s, salmon, nuts and olive oil to keep your skin at it’s best.

Once your face is on and your hair is presentable throw on your clothes and don’t forget to accessorize. Spending an extra 30 seconds will make a huge difference. Throw on a cute beaded necklaces, bracelet or earrings. How about a cute belt? You can pick up cute accessories for next to nothing.

Then you can start your day. Go wake the kids.

Throw out any make-up that is more than a year old. Change your mascara every two months. Buy on sale only. I never pay full price. Don’t buy expensive make-up. I can’t believe anyone would pay $30 bucks for lipstick. Buy off season. Grab cute scarves and hats at the ed of winter for next year. Don’t buy expensive sun glasses. Your kids will only scratch them.

Lingerie does matter!

Yes, get some sexy undies and bras! Let your hubby see you dressing in the morning. Just knowing what you have on under your clothes will keep him hot all day.

Oh, tweeze, and shave in private!

I know when the babies come we get into the habit of walking around in our pajamas all day. Snap out of it!
I will give you six months to hang around the house but that’s it. At some point you need to wake up from the abyss and get yourself together.

Now, a lot of moms are getting pretty freaked out about this. As if asking moms to actually clean themselves up is so bizarre. Like it’s a privilege to walk around with no make-up, a flannel shirt and your husband’s sweat pants. No, it’s not something to be proud of.

Most of the moms on this site want to be the best they can be. Yes, that includes trying to look the best that you can. Your appearance is something to take pride in. Just like how your home looks. It is a reflection on you.

Let some moms walk around looking like house frumps. Fine if they insist. But if you are here, if you are a member of this happy housewives club than I know you want more. I know you want to look great, to feel sexy, and to have pride in your appearance.

For sure there are days when we all want to hang around the house in our sweats. I have those days. Plenty of them. You know I am a hermit. But in my pajamas all day, no.

We all know that looks can be deceiving, and who says it’s not right to spruce yourself up every once in a while? Well sure, as long as it’s natural because a now common procedure is causing deaths in the US! Recently 16 people have died from Botox injections that spread to the rest of their body. In addition to the 16 that lost their lives over this yearning for eternal beauty, at least 87 have been put in the hospital and over 180 have had adverse side effects because the toxin spread. This isn’t even counting the typical side effects of this procedure.

So then what can be done to reduce wrinkles naturally? Well first of all, you should check your diet! Vitamins A, C & E as well as olive oil and pleanty of fruits and vegetables preserve the health of collagen which helps to prevent wrinkles.

Nichole Gabriel is Founder, and HWIC, at Fullearths, Etc., where she creates high quality, 100% natural handcrafted Soap, Bath, Body and Custom Hand-knits that are available soon online, through the Fullearths, etc. Etsy Shop.

Spring is here! It’s the time of year to dig things up, wipe things down and clear things out. It’s a time of the year when we make changes that are better for ourselves and our families.

And it would be an AWESOME time to change your skin-care routine! Why? Well, we all want beautiful, healthy skin, right? But, to be honest, skin-care products can be pricey ~ and to be even more honest, most are not good for you or your skin.

I know! That’s a tough one to hear, but many of our favorite skin-care products are full of harmful chemicals, like sulfates and parabens, that do more harm to our “insides”, then good to our “outsides”. Go ahead, read the labels!

Think about THIS, ladies! Our skin is our LARGEST organ ~ what goes ON it is absorbed directly into our blood stream! Are you certain that what you are putting on you and your kids skin, is what you want traveling through your bodies?

In addition to the safety advantage, lets talk cost! You can make your own skin-care products, that rival the best luxury spa treatments, for a fraction of the cost! So, go ahead, pamper yourself! Out with the old, chemical-filled bottles of mass produced skin-care, and in with YOUR new wholesome, skin-loving, handcrafted, luxury skin-care regimen.

Here are 3 fun, and easy, recipes to get you started:

Simple Skin-Softening Body Scrub

This salt scrub will slough off dead skin, and reveal beautiful vibrant glowing skin!

1 cup Salt (sea salt, if you have it, but table salt works fine too!)

1/2 cup Sweet Almond Oil

2 tablespoons Vit. E Oil

1 teaspoon Olive Oil

3-5 drops Essential Oil of your choice (lavender, geranium, almond, etc. In a tight spot, you can even use a few teaspoons of almond, vanilla or other essence.)

1.5 Tablespoons Additive of your choice /optional/ (like rose petals or lavender buds, be creative!)

Combine your oils and salt, and mix thoroughly. Add your Essential Oils until your desired scent is reached. Finally spoon your flower petals or buds over the top and store your scrub in a tight lid jar near your bath or shower.

To use: After shower or bath, take a handful of scrub and apply to your skin, gently rubbing in a circular motion. Rinse and dry.

To use as Pedi Soak: this scrub also makes an excellent foot pedicure soak. Fill a tub with very warm water, and any natural additives of your choice (rose petals, flowers, lavender buds, etc.). Apply a handful of scrub to feet and give them a nice vigorous scrub, paying special attention to heels. Without removing scrub, soak feet for a few minutes. Remove and immediately apply “Simplest Skin Oil Ever” Oil.

The “Simplest Skin Oil Ever”

So much simpler then lotions, so much easier to use and SO much more effective!

1/2 cup Sweet Almond Oil

1/4 cup Vit. E Oil

2-4 drops Essential Oil of choice.

Combine all ingredients, and store in a small spray bottle.

To use: After bath or shower, spray a small amount unto skin and rub in. Simple!

Cleopatra’s Bath Milk

2 cups powdered milk

1 Tablespoon Sweet Almond Oil

2 Tablespoons dried rose petals (or additive of your choice)

1/2 cup ground oatmeal (grind oats finely in your blender)

10 drops Essential Oil (Lavender or other favorite oil)

Mix all ingredients well and keep in a glass jar in the refrigerator.

To use: put as much as you like into your bath under running water.

Note: some may not like free floating particles in their bathtubs. to avoid this, you may purchase large empty tea bags from your local, or online, health food store and fill the with this mixture.

I have had moms come up to me (in their sweats with sneakers on) saying ‘hey, this is moms wear.’ Okay, okay. If so many moms want to wear sweats and sneakers than please buy some cute sweats and cute sneakers. Get to the store and pick up some of the latest trends in these comfy mom clothes. There are nice velour lounge pants out now that are really sexy. The key is to buy a straight legged sweat pant. For the sneakers there are so many cute styles now in different colors that look more like a shoe than a sneaker. That is what you want to get. But again, unless you are going to and from the gym, I see no reason to have sneakers on. There are so many cute shoes. In the winter I am hooked on boots. You can get comfy casual suede boots to hang around the house in that look fashionable if you run out. In the summer I always have on a cute sandal with a slight heel to make me look taller or my flip-flops.

You know I am short. Five foot two inches! It takes a lot of effort on my part to look good and believe me it is a huge effort. I could easily fall off the wagon. Retreat to the sweat pants, eat my favorite kettle chips and become a slob again. But, I am not going back there and neither are you. We are going to force ourselves to get our faces on, dress fashionably, and get out of the house. It’s easy to become a house frump. Fight it.

You can dress really cute by wearing jeans (not waist high with pleats please) with a tight tee. Now when I write tight I don’t mean too tight so you look like a sausage. I mean tailored. Nothing looks worse than a big boxy tee shirt. We’re going to have online shopping on this site soon. I can’t wait till you can see the t-shirts I’ve created. They are tailored, soft, cute and affordable.

Q: My 9 year old daughter has oily hair. I try and only bathe the girls every other day, but with her, it has to be every day because her hair just gets gross! Is there any product geared towards kids with oily hair?

A: Surprisingly, the answer is to wash her hair less. Wash her hair once a week until the pH balance is corrected. This could take up to 3 weeks.

Until then, you can use hair powders or corn starch in between washing. Just sprinkle the powder on your hands and rub it through your daughters hair to refresh it.

Also, change to a healthy diet and try to reduce combing and brushing her hair as it stimulates oil product.

What do you think? Can you give up shopping for a year? No? Me either. How about 6 months or even one month? To me it seems impossible. Sad, I know, but there is something about the thrill of finding a new top that is flattering and fun that just keeps me hunting down the latest and greatest. Honestly, I tire quickly of my wardrobe and adding a new accessory or top is just the thing to keep me happy.

You can guess that I have an over-abundance of stuff, some of which gets very little wear. I am well aware that my consumer habits need to change for the sake of budget and closet space, not to mention how much easier it would be to put together an outfit in the morning if I had a clear idea of what is in my closet.

I found an interesting article about giving up shopping for the sake of taking a step away from consumerism and eliminating any shopping that is not necessary (gasp!).

Written by Happy Housewife Tiffany

The Valentine’s Day candy has been on display in the store since January 2 and alas February is here and the day is not far off. I’m sure everyone is thinking about what to do your dh, what cards to get for the children – but what about you? Momma needs some loving too! Unfortunately, unless you make yourself a priority, you’re not going to get it.

Yes, I said it! You need to make yourself a priority. You look and feel like crap because you run around taking care of everyone else except yourself. Sound familar? I know, because I’ve done it also. But not this year. Think about it, if you don’t love and take care of yourself, how can you give more of yourself to your family. You SAY you’re going to get yourself up and dressed with makeup daily and yet everyday – your husband comes home, after a hard day’s work, to you in sweats…again. You try to play it off as if you’ve been cooking and cleaning all day, but we know thats untrue. Every day this month -get up and put some decent clothes on and put on some lipstick – lipgloss at the very least! Then at night – take the makeup OFF. Stop going to bed in your makeup, its bad for your skin and bad for your pillowcase. Drink water, lots of it, every single day. You have no energy and you don’t know why, its because you’re probably dehydrated. Lets start doing things because we love ourselves and we know that we’re better wives, better moms, better women when we take care of US

Need some help figuring out what to do, here are some suggestions:

Drink at least 6 glasses of water a day

Take a vitamins daily

Get completely dressed daily

Put on makeup every day (at the very least lipgloss)

Walk or exercise at least 15 minutes everyday

Moisturize face and body daily

Create one new outfit

Go to bed a half hour earlier

Eat more fruits and vegetables

Wear sunscreen
