View Full Version : Worthy of a national emergency???

Ever since President Obama declared h1n1 a national emergency I have been screaming at everyone. When in my generation's lifetime have we ever been living under a national emergency? To me this is kind of scary. Right now under the Homeland Security Act, and under this medical national emergency the government can pretty much do whatever the hell they feel like. Oh but they wouldn't do anything out of line. What do we have to worry about? Well I for one and worried that my children might be vaccinated behind my back and against my will. We have all been reading and hearing the rumors about FEMA camps, quarantine, arrest, and riots. But really is it so off base? If you were the President and if you had the audacity to declare what is considered a mild flu as a national emergency, wouldn't you have to prepare as if it was or could end up a national emergency or actually, a national disaster? My question though is the math. It just doesn't add up. So far there have been 5.7 million cases of h1n1 globally April to August according to the CDC. And 5 thousand, lets even high ball it at 6 thousand deaths during that period. That is less than one percent of deaths. Here in the United States since April there have been 1000 deaths due to h1n1 or secondary infection caused by it. Big number? Not when you there are supposedly 36,000 deaths a year from the seasonal flu. So three thousand people die each month from the regular flu! Yet, only 1000 have died over six months from h1n1. I am confused. When I turn on the tv or open a newspaper there I see another death reported from h1n1. Where is the death reported from the person who died from the regular flu? Did they stop dying? I am confused. I do know that in my forums hundreds of moms have been posting about the virus in their communities. Many of them have had it themselves or have children who have it or have had it. Some have been swabbed some have been diagnosed over the phone. That's right, in Florida one woman wrote that her pediatrician told her, 'it's probably h1n1 so don't come in,' What? So imagine all the cases that have gone underreported. I know as a fact children in my school district have had it and my children have been exposed. But the schools aren't shutting down any longer, they aren't giving out Tamiflu, they aren't swabbing, so if this is a national emergency isn't everyone a bit lax? People are out shopping with sick kids. Children are attending school with fevers. And everyone is going on with their lives. All is well as long as you get the vaccination. Well, if this virus is so bad that we have to declare a national emergency, why not shut all the school down for a week to disinfect? Why not ask Americans to stay home to kill the virus off? How about arming us all with knowledge of how to ward off this flu instead of 'wash your hands and cover your mouth when you sneeze?'
I never took the regular flu shot and I never gave it to my children. I won't be giving them the h1n1 vaccination. I cannot believe they are telling pregnant woman to take this vaccine. Some of these vaccines contain the preservative thimerosal that has been linked to autism. I assume most pregnant women think these vaccines are thimerosal free because the mercury based preservative was removed from vaccines after a link to autism was so controversially debated. However, there is declaration in many states which temporarily suspends mercury limits for certain mercury-containing H1N1 vaccines. The six-month suspension is effective September 23, 2009 through March 23, 2010 and applies only to H1N1 vaccines. Washington State law allows the Secretary of Health to suspend the state’s legal mercury limit for a vaccine if the secretary determines there is an outbreak of disease or shortage of vaccine available to protect the public health against vaccine-preventable disease. I wonder if people are reading the insert to the vaccine they are getting. I hope they read where it says you can't hold the company responsible for any side effects. I wonder if the physicians remember it is illegal to give a pregnant woman a vaccine which contain thimerosal. Oh, but again you cannot sue if anything happens. And if your kid is autistic do you really have any energy left to fight back? Or what about the NFL cheerleader who is brain damaged after taking this vaccine. No connection? There was a boy in my town who died just a few days after the vaccine, but again they said there was no connection. Hmm...
I find it interesting how people who don't want the government to tell them they have to have healthcare insurance are so willing to accept the government saying they have to take a flu shot.
Australia just finished their winter. Out of 22 million people there were just 125 deaths. So if we have 370 million people, we will have, less thatn 10,000 deaths. Still too much if its your kid or someone you know. But clearly not as much as the regular flu. So again, is there something we aren't being told? Or is this another hyped drug for the pharmaceuticals? Take a look at how their stocks have soured since this pandemic has broke

i dont think you can fairly compare the number of deaths at this point. the 30,000 a year generally occur in the months that we haven't hit yet..thus far, this flu season, the h1n1 has killed more people then what the usual seasonal flu kills...and the 30,000 that are usually killed are the elderly..not to discount the elderly but that is to be expected. you do not expect a flu to burrow deeply into the lungs of healthy young people and kill them and that is what this flu does and there is no way thus far to predict who it will do it to!

Australia generally has a milder flu season then we do also so...that doesnt convince me

I do hope it turns out not to be awful...and yes I saw that cheerleader and it is horrible..where are the videos of the healthy children that have died from this flu though???

i dont think the government is up to anything sinister..and i am not an Obama fan..i think they just want to be ready in case it gets really bad...but that said, i could be wrong!
