Ladies we have all the power. We book our family vacations and as Easter and the summer break approaches use your money to show the airlines and the administration that we are not going to go to the airports and be patted down, humiliated and let pedophiles look at our children's bodies. The new scanners that Janat Napolitano wants to use show body parts including the breast and penis. It is just disgusting that we citizens are going to be treated this way. Who are the security guards? Pedophiles will be flocking to these jobs so they can see your child's naked body. And then if they believe you are suspect you are in a no win situation where you have to allow them to pat you down, touch your body and touch your child's body. One woman told me she recently had a security guard touch her inner thighs up to her pelvic bone because they saw something suspicious and it was her zipper. She was complaining and she was told to shut up or get arrested. What is next cavity checks? Why on earth are we allowing this? The only way is to not fly. To show them we will not tolerate this treatment.

We are patting down young girls but not profiling Middle Eastern Men? And it’s going to get worse. Bring on the body scanners. Where you can see a full outline of a woman’s breasts, man’s genitalia and your children’s bodies.

So a guy with known terror connection who bought an airline ticket in cash and boarded an international flight without a passport is allowed on a transatlantic flight?

While Americans are walking around without shoes on and Grandmothers and Children are being pulled out of line and patted down by Government workers?

I just heard a story about a father and young daughter pulled out of a security line. They patted down his daughter and went through her Hello Kitty backpack. He asked them “why.” They said “Because you look friendly.” Why are we bothering teaching “good touch bad touch” to our kids when they can be patted down by strangers in public because of political corrected-ness?

Meanwhile, four Middle Eastern men behind this family went through the security line without being stopped.

Yesterday, Janet “Pat” Napolitano told reporters during a briefing that the United States is scheduled to deploy 300 additional advanced imaging scanners at U.S. airports in 2010, and may deploy more.

From The Guardian…The rapid introduction of full body scanners at British airports threatens to breach child protection laws which ban the creation of indecent images of children... Ministers now face having to exempt under 18's from the scans or face the delays of introducing new legislation to ensure airport security staff do not commit offences under child pornography laws.

Doctors go through years of de-sensitivation training before they start doing physical exams (2nd year med school). And here we are going to let government workers looking at images? What training are they going to go through?

Enough is Enough!

Are they looking at a nude body, or an x-ray?

And for those of you who have flown over past couple of years and endured unreasonable security agents imagine this... you are on line and the buzzer goes off as they wand over your child... they wisk her off to a back room and hold you back and do not let you go. Your daughter goes in alone. Now what if this securty guard claims he thinks your daughter has bomb in her undies or worse yet inside of her. Yep, the new thing is tampon type bombs and don't think they won't try to dig for one.

I am sick of this. Granny from Indiana or a 10 year old girl is not going to blow up an airplane. We know who these guys are and they should be targeting them and that is it.

That's scary... And I'm not comfortable with the idea of MY children being scanned or searched.... BUT these terrorists will use anyone they can to cause trouble. They program their sons, their daughters, their mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters into their way of thinking. Who's to say they WOULDN'T use a ten year old girl or a granny to blow up a plan in the name of their God? Worse has been done to children and the elderly in the name of religion and female bombers and child "soldiers" are becoming ever more prevalent... And who's to say they'd LOOK like or even BE "Middle Eastern Men". The bombers in London were British citizens - they weren't middle eastern so far as my memory serves me and they looked like, sounded like, lived like your average Joe although they weren't white...

I don't agree with the full body scanners... I'm a shy person and don't want a stranger looking at my body or at the bodies of my children... But I also don't want to be blown to smithereens because the security guards only bothered to check foreign looking males. I take some comfort in the knowledge that if I have to go through it, then so does everyone else and therefore the risk is reduced a bit - although I think it's a false security claim as terrorists can ALWAYS find a way around these things. Always.

I'm also comforted by the knowledge that here (I don't know the rules in America) if they want to search your child in a private room you have the right to be there.

All that said, I'm not comfortable with the idea of full body scanning and I certainly won't be flying any time soon. We'll be holidaying in Europe for the next few years and will be driving to our destinations I think!

I really dislike "Big Brother" style government... We're people, not lab rats to be observed. It makes me sad and angry at the same time.

We are being assaulted because the morons in international intelligence are not doing their job. How did that Nigerian man get on a flight when his own father said he was a danger?

This is just a mess.

The last time I flew was at the end of the summer and after that experience I decided I wasn't going to fly for a very very long time. I need to be at Harrisburg International Airport (a rinking tiny little airport) 2 1/2 hours before my flight. When I get there I wasn't even able to take my luggage in the airport I had to check them in the parking lot. I could not take a carry on only my purse. I had to go through security and sit in a little waiting area for 2 hours. I was one of 8 people in the airport and they treated us as if we were criminals. They watched over us like we were going to make some kind of sudden move. That was uncomfortable enough. I would not like to add everything Darla has mentioned to that.

I agree... It's really scary. And the worst thing is you just KNOW it won't be the last time something like this happens. I am terrified of flying now (was scared of it anyway) and really don't want my children going anywhere near a plane...

I'm sure I heard on the news in the middle of the night that three more men were arrested yesterday because of a bomb threat to the plane they were on. That's four potential bombs on planes in less than three weeks! Here's the link to the latest story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8449696.stm

Ha ha ha............crazy girl

I agree, this whole thing is very disturbing. I for one will not fly anywhere for a very long time, if ever. Not so much because some creep will see me naked, but because some sick freak radical wants to blow up the plane. It is unfortunate that we have to take these sorts of measures to protect ourselves on planes. If we all stop flying and start taking trains, it will only be a matter of time before the trains take these same precautions. Heck, it could end up being a part of everyday life.

We live in a sick world for sure, and it is getting worse. We need to pay attention to our own, and take our own precautions to protect our families. And, for me, it means NOT FLYING, staying away for large gatherings, and do my own racial profiling.

I have absolutely no desire to fly anywhere anytime soon.. we haven't flown in years, not after the so many ounce rule and this and that... and this body scan thing? No freaking way. I'll stay home or drive.

I am probably the minoroty here, but if looking at naked bodies keeps us safe- look away. I will even do a little dance while they look!
If they need to search my child, I WILL be present.

I really don't care if they look at our body image. It is the principal of this whole fiasco. That they hire security guards who we have no idea of their background. They frisk old ladies while someone on the no fly list gets on an American bound plane. And that these images do invade our privacy and why should we have to go through this nonsense. Plus, you cannot always be there when your loved one goes in the room. Last year remember the woman who was naked on the floor and then died? And how about the routine wand scan? Or the uncomfortable pat-down. If you have no history of crime and haven't been emailing terrorist websites or extremist research you should not have to go through this.

I have only flown once and that was enough for me. I like the family bonding that happens we we are in the car for 16 hours anyway :).. the sights we get to see, the memories we get to make, the people we meet along the way. :)

We fly all the time. If they decided to search my 9yo and 7yo I and/or my dh will be present! My dh just got back from a trip and he said there was nothing different about this trip than any others. He's going to Vegas in a couple of weeks so we will see if anything is different then.
