The oil spill / Haiti

Wow! I am sick. I cannot believe how Americans rushed to Haiti's aid financially, but nothing is being done to raise money for our own. Where is the telethon? Where is Wycoff Jean? Now I know people were laying in the streets struck down and homeless in Haiti. I know it was horrific and we should have helped them. But, fishing families and businesses in the gulf are destroyed. So many families who fished those waters for generations are now left with nothing. I am not seeing anything on tv to help these people. Where are the celebrities on the beach? Where are the big celebrity donations? Where is the excitement to help our own and save our coastline?

No Kidding Darla! We as a country are soooo ready to help anywhere in the world on a moments notice, but God forbid we do anything to help in our own backyards. I cannot stand to watch anymore news reports about this disaster. It is just disgusting to watch the fingers point and to hear them discuss the endless meetings to "decide" what to do and who's responsibility it is to clean it up.

I have never understood why we don't help ourselves. Our Country is so backwards.
