I am outraged! I am so upst! I can't take it! What is going to happen to the gulf? What is going to happen to the families? What is the President doing? Why are we not on the beaches going crazy? A foreign company is controlling our water and our beaches? A foreign country is telling journalists what they can photograph? A foreign company is destroying the way of life for our families along the gulf? Why are we allowing this? I am sick. I am not seeing people upset over this. Are you? I am not hearing people talking about this. Are you?
We raised over 700 million dollars for Haiti but where are the fundraisers for the gulf families? Where are the celebrities? When is the telethon? And for all our housewives in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas, why are you not out on those beaches picketing, screaming, raging and demanding help?
I feel so helpless. But I am so angry. I am so sad. And I want to know what you all think about it. And what are we going to do to fix this? How could we help?

It's pretty big news over here - daily in fact. I'm surprised it's not being talked about more where you are?!
Please can we not start pointing fingers at foreigners though, a fair proportion of the company involved is also owned by the USA, so it's not entirely a foreign company.
I think to be honest, that there's not a lot that can be done until the leak is fixed... Whatever is done before then is only going to be ruined as more oil leaks.
I think the people affected will be compensated and I suspect once the leak is under control then relief will start going to them and the clean up will start in earnest... But honestly, I think the main priority now is getting the leak under control - until that's done, everything else is just a waste of time, effort and money because we don't know how much worse it'll get before it gets better if you know what I mean?
My heart truly goes out to the families affected though... I hope that once this is over they can rebuild their lives. But honestly my heart is crying for the natural beauty that is lost, and the way nature has been affected mostly. People can move on and survive pretty well, but it's down to us to keep the beauty of the Earth unharmed. :( Just makes me so sad.... All that wildlife dying, the seas and beaches ruined.... It's going to take a very, very long time before we can fix those problems....

It is on the television here and radio every day. But at the beaches there are not crowds of people going crazy and there is not enough outrage. And the reason I bring up the 'foreign' issue is because BP is handling this sitution and they shouldn't be. At this point our military needs to take over. If his was the English Channel and the company was Exxon controlling everything that wouldn't be right either. BP is controlling what we see, say, and how we react and that is just not right. We love our British mums, we just hate the BP company. And by the way, I Hate Exxon!

It is making me sick that there was not an emergency contingency plan. They drill that deep into the ocean without having a viable plan for "what if's?" It's sickening. I agree w/Sarah Jane- really, nothing is worth doing until they stop the darn leak!! It's an outrage.

Phew! I was worried for a bit there!
I agree though - the way it's being handled is appalling. I can understand the "making the company fix what they broke" thing, but how long are they going to let them bumble along before the rest of the world steps in and takes control?!
This isn't just an American issue, what is happening affects the whole world - it should be us ALL fixing this. We all benefit from oil drilling and now it's gone wrong and ruining the planet, we should all be taking responsibility.

The Dutch, the Spanish, the Germans, have all offered their ships. In fact the Germans have a ship that can suck up 200k gallons a day and BP is saying no. This is why I cannot figure out why Obama hasn't said, screw you BP, get out, and called in the international help. I am really upset with Obama on this. He sucks too! And yes, this hurts the world because the food chain is going to be disrupted. I cannot believe Venezuela hasn't freaked out yet because the oil is expected to head right to them and destroy their fishing industry too. This is such a disaster. So sad.
