This morning I waved off a hairy boy going off to 8th grade. Just yesterday he stood in front of me afraid of kindergarten, holding his apple for his teacher, crying as he walked off. Today he yelled for me not to follow him to the bus stop and to "go in the house so no one would see me looking at him." It was just a blink of an eye since he was taking his first step. And now he is walking down the block on his own, never looking back. I know the next few years are going to be bumpy with the scary teenage years ahead of me. But I am ready. I am looking foward to every nasty, crazy, hormonal moment. In five years he will be leaving me and going off to college. He may get married and move far away. I am going to cherish every second of the next five years. I am going to make his favorite dinners more. I am going to stop whatever I am doing to talk to him. I am going to remember how blessed to have had this boy. And I am never going to take for granted how blessed I have been able to be home with him.

Darla, that made me tear up too. My baby turns 11 tomorrow and I am trying to hold it together. All we can do is enjoy each moment given to us...even the frustrating ones.

Eeek. Now I'm teary eyed! They do grow up soooo fast. My oldest already has her driving permit! I"m with you and so happy I have been able to be at home with them through these years.

My girls are all in high school now. I also feel blessed every day. The time is going by way too fast.

Ditto... wet eyes here too! I have an 8th grade DD who in 7th grade couldn't stand me - oh the joys of motherhood. She is back to loving me and I have to think I owe a lot of my success with my family to a lonely trip I took to the library after I up and quit my job. There in the self-help books, because what did I know about being a SAHM was the book that changed my life forever... Happy Housewives! I have loaned this out so many times, and had to repurchase as they never come back! LOL!
Thank you Darla!! Just a side note... even my license plate proudly shows it now...

There is no doubt that we are the luckiest women in the world to be able to stay home part or full time to raise the beautiful babies we brought into this world.

Darla, that's lovely! Brought a lump to my throat and my DD hasn't even started school yet! I do appreciate how lucky I am to be at home with her all the time (even today when she drew with crayon on the wallpaper )
