About Renee

Over the past 9 yrs, we have moved 8 times, across the country and back again.  I anticipate at least another 8 moves over the next 10+ yrs.  We’ve lived on-post and off and we’ve been renters and home owners.  We have 3 sons, ages 6, 4, & 1.5 – each born in a different state. We’ve endured many months of separation due to military schooling, training missions, field time, and deployment.

I have a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. Prior to having my babies, I was employed by the DoD and worked for the Army as a Training and Programs Specialist for the Human Services Division. I have always volunteered in the military communities we live in. I’ve been involved with the Family Advocacy Program, Exceptional Family Member Program, Army Family Team Building, various military spouse organizations, and served in several Family Readiness Groups at the company and battalion levels.  I am also a member of the National Military Family Association.

Many civilian friends and family often exclaim to the military wife, “I don’t know how you do it!” You know what, we just do.  Sure, our lives may seem a little crazy to an outsider, but in the military world, it is par for the course. There are hundreds of thousands of military wives; all around the globe, that incessantly face similar challenges.  The setting and characters vary, but the stories are the same. Be it Air Force, Army, Marines, Navy or Coast Guard, most of us military wives share a sense of camaraderie.  We’re committed to our marriages – we love our husbands and share their sense of pride and responsibility for fellow man. We respect our flag and what it stands for. We have reverence for our veterans and thank them for the freedoms we enjoy today.  We believe in the call to duty, in honor, and in our country.

Support the troops AND their families, for we serve our country too!

About Nicole

I served four years of active duty service in the United States Air Force (1996-2000) as an

Information Manager.  I have a Bachelor Degree in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.  Currently I work as a stay-at-home mom with four children (2 boys and 2 girls).  I am a military wife (Air Force) and my family and I currently live in Centreville VA.  Over the past ten years, we have also been stationed at Davis Monthan AFB AZ, Scott AFB IL, and Onizuka Air Station CA.

When our husbands join the military, we join too!  As an Air Force wife myself, I understand

just how difficult, frustrating, and lonely our way of life can be.  We must pack and move whenever we are told, build and rebuild our homes, comfort our children who miss their friends, support our husbands with their new responsibilities, and at the end of the day, take care of ourselves so we can keep it all together.  We put our own careers on hold so that we can follow our husband wherever duty calls.  When our husbands deploy, we find the strength to solely run the household while carrying the burden of worry for our loved one.

Through this journey, I have met the most amazing women/mothers.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything.  This is an amazing way of life.  Ladies, we are all in this together.  As military wives, we unite.  That’s what makes this live style so gratifying.  Have you ever seen anything like it?  We stick together, help each other out, and give endless support.  Thanks to the internet, we are able to easily come together as a community from all over the world.  We can share stories and network with each other at every base!  You will always know who to turn to when you don’t know what to wear at your husband’s promotion ceremony or need some help relocating to another part of the world.  As military wives, we represent our husbands and should understand how to speak the lingo and uphold the highest level of proper etiquette.

I would love to hear from you.  Please share your stories or ask questions.

If I don’t have the answers, I will find them for you.
